Jennifer Daniels

WIDA Professional Learning Design Specialist

Jen Daniels serves teachers and educational leaders who work with language learners by collaborating with her colleagues at WIDA in order to design and deliver meaningful professional learning opportunities. Her team projects are centered on supporting language learners through educator practices related to the formative assessment of academic discourse, equity-focused leadership, and integrated content and language learning.

During her doctoral studies at the University of Northern Colorado, Jen inquired into how ELL directors in rural school districts collaborated to establish programs for language learners. Jen worked in a dual immersion elementary school during her principal internship, and she served ESL, bilngual, and content teachers for 12 years in Colorado as a district coach and professional development specialist. Prior to living in Colorado, her three sons were simultaneous bilinguals in Hebrew and English who entered U.S. schools as language learners in the 4th, 6th, and 8th grades. Jen's experiences in Israel as a language learner, as a parent of bilingual children, and as an English teacher have enriched her life. She is grateful for the opportunity to continue to learn about language acquisition from students, educators, and colleagues through her work at WIDA. She travels in order to work with educators from her home in Hastings, Michigan.
