Students speak out on Collaborative Learning by Cathy Middlecamp
Last fall, I taught a large nonmajors general chemistry course that included a number of small group activities. I asked my students to express their thoughts on cooperative learning. Actually, it was somewhat of a bribe, as I offered each student five extra credit points for sending me an email essay. I explained that their thoughts were important both personally to me as a teacher and because I was serving on several advisory boards. Hence, they could speak their minds both locally and to a wider national audience.
