Creating A Computer-Enhanced Geology Learning Environment

Summing Up
In many of the case studies on the LT2 web site, faculty discuss one potential danger of using technology in the classroom, which is that it may be used for the sake of providing glitzy entertainment than an actual learning advantage. In this case, Eric Frost has discussed how his use of technology is not a superfluous amusement, but rather an absolutely essential ingredient for helping students meaningfully conceptualize complex geological processes.
Making significant changes, however, is not easy. Like all others who attempt to incorporate technology into their classrooms in innovative ways, Eric has run into his share of problems with funding, personnel, and other bureaucratic obstacles that accompany such efforts. However, as he said in the body of this case study, one cannot expect to implement changes like his without encountering opposition, and must maintain determination in order to achieve success.
