The Field-tested Learning Assessment Guide

The NISE College Level One Team mission is to provide the needed tools for science, mathematics, engineering, and technology instructors to reform undergraduate introductory classes such as chemistry, biology, physics, and calculus. Over the the last three years, the team has focused on collaborative learning, assessment, and instructional technologies. During this presentation, Dr. Anthony Jacob, College Level One Team member, will provide an overview of the Field-tested Learning Assessment Guide (FLAG) Web site, by demonstrating some examples of assessment techniques and tools and discussing how the FLAG has been received by instructors. Jacob will also review the Student Assessment of their Learning Gains (SALG) assessment instrument.

Anthony Jacob is a researcher for the National Institute for Science Education’s College Level One Team and the team’s Web master. He is also the associate director of the Chemistry Learning Center.
