The NISE College Level One Team mission is to provide the needed tools for
science, mathematics, engineering, and technology instructors to reform
undergraduate introductory classes such as chemistry, biology, physics, and
calculus. Over the the last three years, the team has focused on collaborative
learning, assessment, and instructional technologies. During this presentation,
Dr. Anthony Jacob, College Level One Team member, will provide an overview of
the Field-tested Learning Assessment Guide (FLAG) Web site, by demonstrating
some examples of assessment techniques and tools and discussing how the FLAG has
been received by instructors. Jacob will also review the Student Assessment of
their Learning Gains (SALG) assessment instrument.
Anthony Jacob is a researcher for the National Institute for Science Education’s College Level One Team and the team’s Web master. He is also the associate director of the Chemistry Learning Center.
