What's The Research On...?
> Technology | | Http://whyfiles.wisc.edu The Why Files science web site serves as a combination public service, outreach tool, and teacher gathering place.
Its current URL is http://whyfiles.org
Making education technology work Technology is profoundly changing what can be taught in undergraduate math and science courses, and how it is taught. The Why Files users match profile Study compares the profile of the 'average' internet user with users of The Why Files site. Learning Science: Conceptual Learning and Hands-On Design Activities UW-Madison education professor Sadhana Puntambekar helps teachers improve student conceptual learning by integrating informational text with experimental and hands-on activities. Her research project, CoMPASS: Integrating Digital Text in Design-Based Science Classes, aims to help teachers better understand student representations of science concepts as they use multiple texts in their science explorations. Tangibility for Teaching, Learning and Communicating Mathematics Mitchell Nathan and Martha Alibali observe how students in high school electrical and mechanical engineering classrooms pursue mathematical symbols and science concepts through a variety of tools, objects, and representations. Projects require students to work with physical models, electrical circuits, Boolean algebra, CAD systems, simulation software and computer-based geometry applications. |
