To understand science means relating different aspects of science knowledge to one another, and to knowledge of nonscientific topics.

Tangibility for Teaching, Learning and Communicating Mathematics
Mitchell Nathan and Martha Alibali observe how students in high school electrical and mechanical engineering classrooms pursue mathematical symbols and science concepts through a variety of tools, objects, and representations. Projects require students to work with physical models, electrical circuits, Boolean algebra, CAD systems, simulation software and computer-based geometry applications.
