Epistemic Game Encourages Community ConsciousnessJanuary 26, 2009 Students playing the digital epistemic game Urban Science participate in authentic professional practices like managing physical and social tradeoffs and negotiating compromises between stakeholders. They gain knowledge, skills, and values important to the planning profession and use those traits to better understand the complexity of urban systems. They learn the type of civic thinking urban planners employ – the type of thinking that enables them to see their local contexts as dynamic spaces that they can help mold and shape and envision a particular role for themselves in their community.
