Measuring the Effects of SES ServicesJuly 27, 2009 Patricia Burch and Rob Meyer have embarked on an evaluation of the implementation and effects of Supplemental educational services. Supplemental educational services (SES) are free tutoring services offered to low-income children who attend a Title I school in its second year of "school improvement status." Burch and Meyer are looking at effective strategies for the design and delivery of these programs in five large, urban school districts. The study examines district-level program administration, instructional practice in different program models and settings, and the nature and quality of tutoring provided.
