Value-Added Measures in Education: What Every Educator Needs to Know

February 7, 2011

In a newly published book Douglas Harris sets out to help educators and policy makers understand the complex subject of value added measurement. Illustrated with data on student achievement, Value-Added Measures in Education shows how this approach can help schools make better use of their data. Harris explains what standardized test scores can truly measure and how policy makers can design accountability systems that improve teaching and learning.  Harris is associate professor of educational policy and public affairs at UW- Madison.
