STEM Grad Students Connect through CIRTLink

March 20, 2007

Graduate students and post-docs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics meet regularly by teleconference to exchange advice, answer questions, make connections, and provide tips to streamline projects, through a new initiative called CIRTLink.

WCER’s CIRTL - the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning - promotes the development of a national faculty in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) committed to advancing effective teaching practices for diverse student audiences as part of their professional careers. Teaching-as-research, learning communities, and learning-through-diversity underlie all CIRTL activities.

CIRTLink also helps graduate student assistants to become more integrated into the project. Grad students have played an important role in CIRTL since its outset, developing programs and courses as well as providing ideas for the direction of the project. Creating connections between Network graduate students, post-docs, faculty and staff allows synergy to develop between different universities. More information is available here.
