Sharing Leadership PracticesMay 16, 2005 It is the rare educational leader who is able to negotiate the local tangle of tradition and politics to successfully improve learning for students. Richard Halverson is developing new methods and using new technologies to access, represent, and communicate successful instructional leadership practices for school leaders. Halverson uses the term "data-driven instructional systems" to describe the interconnected system of curriculum, pedagogy, professional development, and assessment practices that leaders build to improve student learning. This study is defining the knowledge, experience, structures, and practices local school leaders bring to bear in designing and implementing a local DDIS. More about Halverson's work, and online publications is available here.
