Building Informed Citizens

WCER researcher Shihmei Barger is an evaluation researcher for the advisory board of the U.S. Education Department’s Teaching American History grants program. The program helps elementary and secondary schools implement research-based methods for improving history teachers’ content knowledge, and aims to improve students' academic performance in American History. Barger’s evaluation will produce quantitative and qualitative comparative evidence. She will produce annual reports on knowledge test results and annual evaluation reports.
