Children's Perceptions of Teaching and Learning

Jeffrey Lewis is documenting the development and impact of an after-school program for elementary school students in two California school districts. The study aims to examine the learning processes among children who are enrolled in the programs and to analyze the process of teachers' learning to teach in these settings. Funded by Claremont Graduate University and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Research and Improvement, the study addresses the underachievement of African American students and the preparation of their teachers.
