Enhanced Anchored Mathematics for All Students
Enhanced Anchored Mathematics for All Students

General education and special education teachers face the task of developing instructional methods and curriculum that raise the achievement of all students. UW-Madison education professor Brian Bottge investigates factors that promote the successful implementation of Enhanced Anchored Instruction. EAI uses technology to help students with learning disabilities and/or emotional disabilities develop their computation and problem-solving skills in authentic contexts for learning. Bottge's research assesses the effect of EAI on the math achievement and attitudes of students in multiple and complex settings within middle schools, high schools, and alternative secondary schools. He has developed a series of video-based problems to engage low-achieving students in math problems they find meaningful.
