Evaluating the Chicago Community Trust Education Initiative

October 31 , 2005

The Chicago Community Trust awards grants totaling more than $62 million annually to organizations ranging from neighborhood social service agencies to museums and educational institutions. The Trust focuses its giving efforts in five areas: arts and culture, basic human needs, community development, education, and health.

Chris Thorn and colleagues are evaluating three areas of the Trust's Education Initiative: literacy, professional development, and alternative schools. The study explores the institutional relationships formed by the various grantees and evaluates the flow of knowledge between project partners as evidence for effectiveness for the work being done.
