Nurturing Families' Social CapitalDecember 22, 2008 Students are more likely to succeed in school when their families, neighbors, and schools work together to provide a rich support network. To create and nourish these networks, WCER’s Social Capital project is working with 52 schools in Phoenix and San Antonio to learn more about how families’ social networks form and how they can support elementary students’ social and academic development. Children from Latino families are a special focus. This study grows out of a nationwide consortium called Families and Schools Together, an after-school program for parents and their children. More information is available here.
