Strategic Human Capital Development

July 7, 2008

The quality of teaching and learning in K–12 classrooms can be improved through the strategic management of human capital—teachers and leaders—in public school districts. Focusing on the largest 100 districts, a new project—Strategic Management of Human Capital—aims to create a network of leaders to reengineer human capital management systems in public education. They will document the nature and impact of effective human capital management systems in several districts and states. The project also aims to establish strategic management of human capital as a prominent issue on the nation’s education reform agenda. Local and state policies that support strategic human capital development in public education will be identified and disseminated. More information is available here.
