Study to Determine School Finance AdequacySeptember 25, 2006 A study directed by Allan Odden seeks to determine the adequate level of spending on education for an average child in Wisconsin. Historically, the state has focused on school finance equity and its links to property tax relief. Given the curriculum standards the state has decided all students should be taught, and the performance standards to which all students should achieve, however, it is time to focus on school finance adequacy—to identify what it would take programmatically to attain those standards to fully funding those programs. Members of the study advisory panel include the chairs of the State Senate and Assembly Education Committees, superintendents of the Milwaukee Public Schools and Madison Metropolitan Schools, teachers, and business representatives. The study is funded by The Rockefeller Foundation of New York. For more information click here.
