Technology Helps Students With Disabilities Learn MathStudents with disabilities can solve challenging and authentic math problems when the tasks are presented in video and applied formats. Students navigated through lessons on videodisc to solve geometry and algebra problems that focus on concepts such as distance, rate, and time. Each video presents a realistic scenario consisting of multiple subproblems which take students one or two weeks to solve. Recent research by UW-Madison education professor Brian Bottge shows that students with disabilities are motivated to solve these problems not only in remedial settings, but also in general education classrooms.
