VARC Blog DebutsMarch 6 , 2006 The new VARC Blog, administered by Chris Thorn, supports the discussion of value-added analysis in education, including growth models of student learning and robust designs for program and policy evaluation. WCER’s Value-Added Research Center (VARC) intends to be at the forefront of scholarly work on the appropriate use of test results and to serve as a leader in advanced techniques of applying value-added analysis to robust evaluation models. The research team is engaged in a number of research and application projects that provide insights into various applications of robust evaluation designs. VARC is funded by a Longitudinal Data Systems grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences.
