Sonia Upton
  Consortium Policy Administrator


Dr. Sonia Upton is the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment project’s consortium policy administrator. She works with State Education Agencies to identify policy and implementation needs and acts as their advocate. She manages the development and dissemination of WIDA communications including annual reports, bulletins, and consortium policy proceedings. She also manages the recruitment of state and local education agencies to participate in test development, research projects, and national partnerships. Additionally, she acts as the liaison between WIDA departments and Consortium member states.

Sonia’s experience in education includes 18 years in the classroom teaching ELLs in Kentucky and working at the Kentucky Department of Education as a Title III-LEP/Immigrant Program Consultant.
