Golnaz Arastoopour
  Project Assistant

Golnaz Arastoopour is a graduate student in the Epistemic Games research group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before becoming interested in education, Golnaz studied mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While earning her bachelor’s degree, she worked as a computer science instructor at Campus Middle School for Girls. Along with a team of undergraduates, she headlined a project to develop a unique computer science curriculum for middle school students. She then earned her M.A. in mathematics education at Columbia University. Golnaz then taught in the Chicago Public School system at Orr Academy High School (an AUSL school) for two years. She is currently in the Epistemic Games Group leading the efforts on the Nephrotex project—an engineering epistemic game for first year undergraduate students and Epistemic Network Analysis—a method for analyzing complex thinking. Golnaz is interested in how innovative simulations and games can motivate students to persist in engineering and STEM fields.
