Virginia Clinton
  Research Associate

I'm a Research Associate at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  My background is in text comprehension, specifically inference generation and the maintenance of coherence.  Currently, I'm working with the National Center for Cognition and Mathematics Instruction (NCCMI; more info http://www.iesmathcenter.org/home/index.php).  The purpose of NCCMI is to revise an existing middle school mathematics curriculum (Connected Math 2) based on cognitive principles.  The specific role of our team at Wisconsin is to improve the integration of verbal and visual information.

I use a variety of methodologies in my research, including eyetracking, think alouds, reading time, as well as paper-and-pencil tasks.
