Data-Driven Instructional Systems Accessing How School Leaders Develop Local Capacity to Use Data to Influence Instruction

It is the rare educational leader who is able to negotiate the local tangle of tradition and politics to successfully improve learning for students. This project is developing new methods and using new technologies to access, represent, and communicate successful instructional leadership practices for school leaders.

The term "data-driven instructional systems" (DDIS) describes the interconnected system of curriculum, pedagogy, professional development, and assessment practices that leaders build to improve student learning. This study is defining the knowledge, experience, structures, and practices local school leaders bring to bear in designing and implementing a local DDIS.
