Chancellor's Teaching and Learning Initiatives

The Chancellor's Award for Departmental Excellence in Teaching
has been created to recognize and reward academic units on campus that have worked together as a community to improve teaching and learning. Six Grants for Collaboration in Teaching have been awarded to tenured faculty. These awards are intended to re-invigorate senior faculty by funding a collaborative teaching project resulting in an expanded curriculum. CCAE and the Teaching Academy designed summer opportunities for faculty and staff to learn together as teachers. A successful UW-Madison faculty development program, CCAE, was adapted to an intensive summer curriculum so that more faculty/staff who cannot participate over the academic year can become involved. The Teaching Academy created additional learning opportunities for the campus to come together in community to extend and enhance excellence in teaching. This new initiative got underway in summer 2000.
