Class Size Reduction in Practice: How, When, and Why SAGE Works
Wisconsin's SAGE (Student Achievement Guarantee in Education) program aims to improve student achievement by reducing class size, increasing school and community collaboration, enhancing professional development, and implementing a high expectations curriculum. Initial evaluations of SAGE showed that it improved student achievement in reading, language arts, and mathematics, as compared with achievement in contrast schools.
M. Elizabeth Graue is looking more closely at how teachers and schools use the resources provided by SAGE, and is examining successful kindergarten practice as well.
