Planning Grant to Develop a New Teacher Compensation Structure for Illinois and Chicago

CPRE has partnered with the Chicago United (a coalition of businesses focused on teacher quality) to develop a long-term project in Illinois and Chicago to change teacher compensation systems at the district and state levels. One goal is to develop teacher quality and compensation policy proposals for the short and long terms. Another goal is to develop two specific new teacher compensation programs: knowledge and skills-based pay programs and school-based performance award programs. The fundamental goal is to design a new, overall teacher compensation system, while the overall three-year project would give Illinois and Chicago an opportunity to align teacher comnpensation with the State's goal of improved teacher quality.
