Action Research and the Reform of Teaching and Teacher Education in Namibia

This study examines the teaching perspectives and practices of the graduates of the national teacher education program for basic education in Namibia, the Basic Education Teachers’ Diploma (BETD). It also involves a study of one component of the BETD and examines the degree to which prospective teachers experience in their education for teaching the learner-centered and culturally relevant teaching envisioned for the schools. Finally, the study examines the ways in which educators have accessed and used new Namibian produced knowledge about education contained in action research studies.
