A Supplement to Collaborative BPC-AE: The Alliance for the Advancement of African-American Researchers (A4RC)

The U.S. is turning out record numbers of Ph.D.s in computing; however, the number of African Americans receiving advanced degrees in computing at the master’s level still lags behind those of other ethnic/racial groups. The Alliance for the Advancement of African American Researchers in Computing (A4RC) works to increase the number African Americans receiving advanced degrees in computing, particularly at the Ph.D. level.

In this project, undergraduates students assist Jerlando Jackson with project evaluation and manuscript development. They are exposed to research & evaluation of STEM-related projects and will be encouraged to pursue a graduate degree in an evaluation-related field or to develop a related research agenda for Ph.D. study.

Students will have hands-on experience in the data collection and analysis of the multi-faceted components of the A4RC. They also will help develop a presentation for the American Educational Research Association annual meeting.
