Completion of Scientific Teaching Postdoc Program and Whiteness Study

Postdoctoral training typically builds disciplinary research skills and excludes other opportunities for professional growth. Although this approach promotes outstanding depth in an area of science, it does not advance scientists toward competency in the many roles of the professor. Postdocs also need skills in teaching, mentoring, and leadership that are essential for successful 21st century faculty.

The Scientific Teaching Postdoc Program trains aspiring academics in skills that complement their research training. The program also equips Scientific Teaching Postdocs to design, deliver, and evaluate their own workshops on scientific teaching, which in turn promotes improved undergraduate education throughout colleges and universities.
