How Do Factors in the Political Context Influence Adolescents' Political Engagement and Teachers' Pedagogy?

This study aims to strengthen our understanding of how factors in evolving political contexts influence adolescents’ political engagement.  

Adolescence is an important time for the development of political identity and engagement, and political experiences during this phase of life may have a serious impact on future engagement.

Previous research indicates that individuals’ political engagement is related to certain contextual factors, such as ideological diversity within communities or schools and electoral processes. Yet  there is little research on how these factors influence the political engagement of different youth over time. This study aims to address this research gap by longitudinally examining Wisconsin adolescents’ political engagement during and after contentious electoral contests.
