Year-end Message Urges Educators to Speak Truth to the World

December 21, 2017

In an internal year-end message, Wisconsin Center for Education Research Director Bob Mathieu urged faculty, researchers and staff to share their knowledge widely. Here is part of this message to help inspire educators everywhere.

. . .there has never been a time when it was more important to bring truth to the world, as best we understand it. Doing so requires research to deepen our understanding, and equally importantly, speaking our truth widely.  Over the course of the holidays and the coming year, I urge each and every one of us to become voices of knowledge learned in WCER.

With family and friends, in town hall meetings, in places of faith, when traveling the world, wherever there are conversations about education, every one of us has the opportunity, perhaps even the responsibility, to strengthen our communities with knowledge that we have learned here.

I wish for all of you the warmth of the holiday season, especially given the cold weather coming in this weekend! I hope that more dreams come true for you in 2018, and I look forward to a new year of peace and happiness for all.

With thanks and cheer,

Bob
