Policymakers and educators engaged in pedagogical reform in math and science seek to better understand teaching practices in colleges and universities. A major challenge involves determining how instructors experience the organizational environment in which their teaching occurs. An adequate accounting of these complex phenomena involves capturing many different aspects of teaching practice.
