Engaged Research in Education

November 15, 2011

The School of Education continues its work to strengthen the relationship between research and practice. In May, WCER and the UW-Madison Office of Education Outreach and Partnerships established a formal initiative; since then a research project has been selected for use as a case study for how WCER and EOP can support engaged research. The research project chosen is developing teaching and learning communities to provide students in 4-year-old kindergarten with quality learning opportunities in and out of school that are mathematically substantive and culturally sensitive. It’s a professional development program that extends earlier research on Cognitively Guided Instruction. Findings from the case study will be used as the Engaged Research project is taken to scale.
