Generalization Across Multiple Mathematical Areas

Better understanding how to foster generalization in advanced mathematics topics is an important element in supporting student success in transitioning to higher mathematics, a transition that many students find difficult. The goals of this project are twofold: (1) investigate the nature of mathematical generalization within and across age bands and mathematical domains, and (2) study the features of instruction that foster mathematical generalization in multiple domains.
